Simulink provides a graphical editor, customisable block libraries, and solvers for modelling and simulating dynamic systems. It is integrated with MATLAB, enabling you to incorporate MATLAB algorithms into models and export simulation results to MATLAB for further analysis.

Simulink is produced by The MathWorks and is used extensively in many fields from academia to industry, inclusive of but not limited to the automotive and aerospace industries.

What can it be used for?

It enables rapid construction of virtual and real prototypes to explore design concepts at any level of detail with minimal effort.

It also supports modelling of the environment (the plant) to simulate the framework within which a real or virtual item can be used. This can be very beneficial in terms of testing electronics controllers, for example.
