Add2 is a small company working at the cutting edge of embedded software industry, providing solutions for use in hardware-in-the-loop simulation test setups, primarily in the automotive industry but with considerable potential to expand into a large range of other industries.

Situated in picturesque surroundings in an historic, restored stately home in the Staffordshire countryside, the company is looking for an enthusiastic development engineer with the ability to handle a broad spectrum of tasks, including specifying and developing.

Whilst it is expected that the successful candidate will bring substantial skills, further on-the-job training will be provided, with opportunities to expand the role and grow within the business.

This position will suit someone who has an interest in both embedded software and hardware, and is looking to work in a structured design environment. You will have a flexible approach to work and an ability to deliver work consistently at a professional level. Ideally you will have a good degree or PHD in one of the following: Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.

Essential requirements:

  • Experience in programming in C for Real Time and embedded control applications
  • Experience of register-level programming of microcontrollers
  • Knowledge of the use of microcontrollers within electronics hardware designs

Desired requirements:

  • Knowledge of Matlab, Simulink, Simulink coder and embedded coder
  • Knowledge of PIC32 or PIC33
  • Knowledge of other current microcontrollers (ARM etc)
  • Knowledge of hardware-in-the-loop testing and Rapid Control Prototyping

Beneficial, but not essential:

  • Car owner


  • Non-smoker

You should have excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work well within a small team, good written and verbal communication skills and be fluent in English. You must also be able to work in the UK although visa sponsorship may be available for exceptional candidates.
