flexiTARGET

flexiTARGET is a Multiple Microcontroller TSP that allows engineers to target Simulink® models to a vast range of real-time hardware.

Users can target Simulink® models to their chosen microcontroller, which provides compatibility with a theoretically limitless selection of real-time hardware.

The versatility of flexiTARGET allows engineers to port their Simulink® application to different hardware platforms, either for upgrading or verification purposes. It can evolve alongside different microcontrollers, without the need to re-design your control model or change blocks. This results in a smoother development cycle, and easier support for custom hardware.

Control models can be easily moved and adapted for more capable hardware variants in line with the complexity of the model itself. This can occur if the user requires a greater number or more capable I/O, or enhanced processing capability to improve the tick rate of the model. add2 can offer model development services to organisations for their RCP or HIL requirements.

The flexiTARGET Multiple Microcontroller TSP includes Simulink® library blocks, and add2’s pre-built GNU toolchains, for example for Embedded PowerPC targets. Having a pre-built GNU toolchain enables users to have their systems up and running quickly and easily, as well as reducing the overall cost of the compiler. Support for the toolchain can be provided by add2.

As enhanced communication features are added, flexiTARGET also enables Simulink® applications to be scalable and distributable. For example, engineers can deploy real-time I/O functions of a complex Simulink® application to one or more slave targets using flexiTARGET, critical microsecond level functions to FPGA, and the rest of the application to the master target. Functions running on each slave target can be configured to run independently or synchronised with the master target. This technology offers a very powerful and flexible system integration and expansion solution for RCP and HIL applications.
